ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY-PALMIERI FURNITURE
3.14. Pollution prevention opportunities:
Palmieri is pleased to advise that its operation and facility does not produce emissions that would have an effect or contribute
to Pollution.
Our facility and production machines are powered by electrical current which in-turn produces no pollution.
Energy Conservation:
All employees at Palmieri are very conscious at conserving energy. Lights are left off when meeting rooms are not in use.
Technical equipment such as computers, copiers and fax machines are all rated as energy saving systems, that when not
in use enter a sleep mode. This sleep mode conserves the amount of energy they would use when not in use compared
to them being constantly run and wasting energy.
Water Conservation:
Fortunately for Palmieri water usage in our operation does not exists. Water consumption in the way of drinking water is the extent
of our usage.
Green House Gas Reductions (GHG):
Palmieri is pleased to advise that its operation and facility does not produce “Green House Gases”.
Disposal of Solid and/or Hazardous Waste:
Palmieri is pleased to advise that its operation and facility does not produce hazardous waste. In regards to our finishing products,
all empty drums are picked up by the supplier and recycled at their facility.
Recycling of Scrap:
Palmieri is pleased to advise that 95% of its scrap material is recycled at the facility by way of small part components for usage in its
furniture. The additional 5% is in the form of saw dust which is picked up by recycling companies and in-turn recycled back into wood
products. Palmieri has very little waste when it comes to its operation due to the fact that computer software tools allows for better
efficiency when producing “bill of materials” for furniture manufacturing. This is very critical to our operation that very little if no scrap
waste is produced when manufacturing. It helps to keep costs down and scrap waste at a minimal.
Health and Safety Issues:
Palmieri is pleased to advise that we have a council of employees who board a round table in regards to “Health and Safety Issues”.
Health and Safety policies are posted thru-out the building. See sample attachment “A”.
Community Involvement:
Palmieri is pleased to advise that our community involvement is thru support for various children’s foundations and membership participation
in major Library venues. For example Palmieri has been an outstanding member with the “American Library Association” (ALA) and the
“Canadian Library Association” (CLA). Numerous contributions in the way of furniture goods to various churches has helped those who cannot
afford to buy simple things like teaching desks, tables and seating products.
BIFMA:
Palmieri is pleased to advise that all its laminate usage meets or exceeds BIFMA standards as indicated in all of our specifications for
furniture products.
